Password Strength Checker

See how quickly someone could guess your password, and what to change to make it far harder.

🔒 Everything happens right here on this page. Whatever you type stays with you. It is never saved, never shared, and never sent to us. You could switch off your internet and it would still work.
Waiting for input
  • At least 12 characters (longer is stronger)

  • At least one symbol
  • No obvious words, sequences, or repeats

How to build a password worth trusting

  • Length beats complexity. A long string of a few random words is stronger than a short scramble of symbols.
  • Use a different password for every account, so one leak cannot open the rest.
  • Let a password manager create and remember them for you.
  • Turn on two-step verification wherever it is offered.
  • Never reuse a password that has turned up in a known breach.
A strong password protects one account. It cannot hide your address.
Even the best password cannot hide the home address, phone number, and family details that broker sites publish about you. Real people remove them for you.
